DEALERSHIP HISTORY Founded in 1924 by brothers Bill and Lee Dunlop, they originally sold the Oakland automobile. The Pontiac nameplate started in 1926, with Dunlop Pontiac becoming one of the original Pontiac Dealers. In 1946 Robert Beattie and John Duncan became partners with Lee Dunlop (Bob Beattie had been working in the parts department since 1941). In 1972 Robert Beattie and John Duncan acquired full ownership, and with John Duncan's passing in 1981 the Beattie family became the sole owners. Michael Beattie is the current owner/ operator of the dealership, acquiring that responsibility in 1996 (Mike started in the service department in 1977). |
